Just a reminder that Wednesday October 1st, 2014 will be the first day the new Vermont 'Hands Free' Cell Phone Law will be enforced. You cannot have a cell phone in your hand while driving, however hands free devices are fine.
"In 2011, for drivers 15-19 years old involved in fatal crashes, 21% of the distracted drivers were distracted by the use of cell phones. "
"Starting Wednesday, the fine, including fees, for a first offense will be $162.
Police may cite a driver without any other traffic offense taking place."
